

Retired MSgt Ernesto A. Macias (Babe), passed away in his home at the age of 80. Ernesto is predeceased by his beloved wife Esther C. Macias, his older brother Carlos Macias and his wife Janie Macias; daughter-in-law Patricia Maldonado Macias; and great nephew Anthony James Macias. Ernesto is survived by his son, Ernesto A. Macias, Jr. and his daughter Yvonne Macias; grandchildren, Crystal Flores, Ashleigh Yvonne Curry and Travis Curry and numerous nephews and nieces who fondly remember him as Uncle Babe. Ernesto retired from the US Air Force in 1978 after nearly 24 years of service. He then served his government as a clerk for the US Postal Service for 22 years. Ernesto liked to go the El Paso Diablo baseball games and the UTEP Miner’s men’s basketball games. He was a member of St. Stephens Catholic Church and he enjoyed going to Hudson’s Bar and Grill. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 20th from 5-9, with a Vigil at 7:00pm at F.D.A. Martin East. Mass at 9:30am at St. Stephens Catholic Church, 1700 George Dieter, burial to follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery. Pallbearers: Tim Macias, Danny Macias, Armando Gutierrez, Roberto Ramos, Gabe Armendariz and Anthony Armendariz. Services entrusted to F.D.A.
