Our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Esequiel Valadez, born on November 18, 1924, was called by the Lord to enter into eternity on Friday, February, 8, 2013. He is now with the love of his life, our mother Carmen, his two grandchildren, Abraham James Ruiz, and Samuel Jacob Cervantes, and his son-in-law, Andres Cabello. They have been waiting for him to assist them in guiding and blessing those of us still on this Earth. Dad was a loving and jovial person who enjoyed being surrounded by his family members and numerous friends. Our dad was the kind of person who would take the shirt off his back to help anyone who asked him for help. As his children, there are volumes of stories that we could all share as to why we felt that he was an exemplary father. He was thoughtful and had an enduring love for his children, and had caring ways of helping his family and all those in need. Will Rogers once said, he “never met man he didn’t like”, dad was like that. He had many, many friends. Dad worked at Phelps Dodge Copper Refinery, and retired after thirty five years. He then worked for the Ysleta ISD as a part-time crossing guard ensuring that school children were safe, for nearly twenty five years. He then retired at the age of eighty-six.
He is survived by his children Rosa E. Lovelace (Art), Alicia Luera (Gabriel), Martha Cervantes, Elena Cabello, and Zeke Valadez, twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
The Valadez Family will receive friends and relatives on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February, 14th, 2013 at 11:00 a.m at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Parish (Main Church). Interment will follow immediately at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
