

Born in Gomez Palacio, Durango, Mexico, on April 3, 1938, Esperanza overcame many obstacles and early on became responsible for caring for her parents and siblings as well as other family members. She demonstrated unique abilities to take decisive actions, showed unwavering strength and unbelievable work ethic. During her life, she worked in many areas but ultimately worked for many, many years as the bookkeeper for Our Lady's Youth Center. Esperanza was resolute in her faith which guided her through all challenges and difficulties in life. Many who had the privilege of meeting her will attest to her generosity of giving to those in need and to her community but most especially for her commitment to taking care of her husband, brothers and sister through their health struggles and illnesses.
She is survived by her devoted son, Jim, her loving grandchildren, Alyse Amanda (Steven), Alec James (Amber) and brothers, Cristobal and Andres Banuelos. She is also survived by Maria Esperanza Lopez and her nephew/nieces (Chris, Maria, Judy and Miros) to include grand and great-grand nieces/nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jaime Lopez, sister Julia Banuelos and daughter-in-law, Espie Lopez. Memorial prayer and inurnment will take place at Mt Carmel Cemetery on October 14, 2024, at 10:00 a.m.
