Evan Marcus McElroy passed away on July 11, 2014. He was born in El Paso, Texas on November 27, 1998.

He was full of energy and love and was very much adored by his family and friends. He was the younger brother of Eamonn Miles McElroy who loves him dearly and treasured his companionship. They shared a mutual passion for video games and computer technology, and spent hours together pursuing their hobby. He is also survived by his parents, Jeff and Gretchen McElroy of El Paso, grandparents Dr. Fred and Nancy Gehlbach of Waco Texas, Uncle and Aunt Mark and Christy Gehlbach of Dallas Texas, cousin Grant Gehlbach of Dallas Texas and his Great Aunt Vivian Shaw of El Paso Texas. He is also survived by his other family Dr. Jim and Betsy Weaver, Scott and Hope Weaver, and Brian and Molly Weaver, and many second cousins whom he loved seeing at family reunions while playing endlessly; watching over the younger ones and playing Pokemon with the older ones. Evan was a student at Franklin High School, and was to enter the 10th grade this coming fall. He had exceptional memory and tremendous intellectual thirst, combined with an outrageous and infectious sense of humor. He had multiple interests and loved astronomy, natural history, geology, cultures, and travel. He could locate any country and most cities of the world on a map or globe, and on vacation danced with street musicians in the Temple Bar section of Dublin Ireland. He took on any adventure with great enthusiasm. He was a remarkable caregiver for his horses, dogs, and cats who loved his company. Our sweetest Evan, we will never know why you are gone, but you were a wonderful fun loving child. You will be loved, missed, and treasured eternally. May God welcome you and hold you peacefully in eternity. Pallbearers will be Andy Krafsur, David Creasey, Ken McEachern, Raul Nava, Jr., Gabe Onsurez, Roger Davie, John Valdez and Bobby Gonzales.

Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Coronado Baptist Church, 501 Thunderbird Dr. Interment to follow at Memory Gardens of the Valley Cemetery in Santa Teresa, N.M.
