Everardo Martinez, 86, entered into eternal rest on Friday, June 28, 2024. Everardo, “Eddie”, was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and uncle, and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Eddie was born in Sanderson, Texas on April 13, 1938. He graduated from El Paso Technical High School. He married Irene Sanchez Martinez on June 12, 1961. Eddie retired from the United States Postal Service after working as a postal carrier for 40 years. He also worked with Irene as a realtor and continued to do so until his death. His wonderful personality laid the foundation for his successful real estate career. He was able to forge great relationships with all the people he worked with during his career at the Post Office and during his real estate career. For several years, he served as a Shop Steward for the American Postal Workers Union. He was an avid reader, and when he was not working or attending his children’s or grandchildren’s school or sports activities, he could be found reading. His book interests varied widely, but he was an enthusiastic student of history.
Eddie was known for his positive attitude, as well as the ever-present smile on his face. His devotion and love for his children, which grew to include his grandchildren, was omnipresent and impossible to miss. He was completely selfless, and he would be proud to admit that his primary goal in life was to support, guide, nurture, and love his family. Those who knew Eddie best feel that he lived for his family. His family agrees and feels honored to have had him as a husband, father, and grandfather. He will always be remembered as a great Dad.
He is survived by his loving wife, Irene, and his children, Edward Martinez (Sandra), Victor Ivan Martinez (Sandra) and Veronica Martinez Flaherty (Todd). Eddie is also survived by his grandchildren Zachary Noah Flaherty and Brandon Joseph Flaherty, Damian Edward Martinez, Ashley Aguilar Martinez and Aaron Aguilar Martinez. Many extended family members and friends cherish and honor his memory.
