Federico Hernandez

Lico also known as Lelo, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and veteran, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion. His life was deeply rooted in his faith in God and his family, which were his guiding principles. A proud graduate of Ysleta High School, Lico embraced his heritage with the motto “Once an Indian Always an Indian.” As a dedicated patriot and Vietnam Veteran, he served his country with honor.

Known affectionately as “Chief,” Lico dedicated his career to the Sheet Metal industry and Union Pacific Railroad, retiring after 27 years.

A sports enthusiast, Lico loved watching all games, but Sundays were special as he enjoyed listening to oldies while watching football.

His greatest joy came from spending time with his two grandsons, cherishing every moment with his family. Whether sharing laughter through jokes and pranks or offering a helping hand during challenging times, Lico was a constant source of support and comfort.

He was deeply loved and respected by all who knew him and will be immensely missed. He leaves behind his life long partner, best friend and wife , Carmen, his daughter Maribel, son in law Filiberto and grandsons Ethan and Brandon. Preceded in death by his parents Soledad G. and Dario H Hernandez, siblings Esperanza Gonzalez, Jose Dario Hernandez, Isidra “Chila” Guy, Evangelina Sanchez and Jose Patrocinio “Pepe”Hernandez. Survived by his beloved sister Santos Gloria Espinoza, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews whom he cherished deeply.

Visitation will be held at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 North Carolina Drive, El Paso, TX 79915, US, on March 27, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a Rosary Service at Hillcrest Funeral Home on March 27, 2026, at 6:00 pm.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, 8600 Winchester Rd, El Paso, TX 79907, US, on March 28, 2026, at 9:00 am, followed by a Graveside Service at Mt Carmel Cemetery, 401 S Zaragoza Rd, El Paso, TX 79907, US, on March 28, 2026, at 10:30 am.
