Francis Marion Brooks

Francis Marion Brooks, 75, passed away on March 4, 2015 in El Paso, Texas. He was born in Brownwood, Texas on April 2, 1939. Francis obtained a bachelors degree from Sul Ross State University and a Master of Education degree from UTEP. He began his career as a teacher in Presidio and later moved to Tornillo where he met his wife Delia. He taught and coached in Tornillo where he worked his way up to become the Superintendent. After retirement, his passion for teaching led him back to the classroom in Fabens, Fort Hancock and Father Yermo schools. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His hobbies included stamp and postcard collecting, traveling and watching football with his family. He had a passion for reading which was passed down to his daughter and granddaughter. However, at the end of the day his true love was his family. He was preceeded in death by his father: Raymond Howard Brooks; mother: Jewel Vardeman Brooks and brother: Joe Howard Brooks. He is survived by his wife Delia, daughter Lisa (Oscar), son Steven (Kathy), and sister: Connie Sue Burcham (James). He had four grandchildren: Zachary, Benjamin, Christopher and Madelyn. He also loved his two dogs, Sumara and Nala. Pallbearers will be Steven and Zachary Brooks, Jesus (Chuy) Bonilla, Porfirio (Nunny) Aguilar, Benjamin Lara, and Jaime Bonilla. Visitation will be Monday, March 9, 2015 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. with the Rosary at 7:00 p.m at Hillcrest Funeral Home-Carolina. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday March 10, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. on at San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church. Internment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery. Service under the direction of HILLCREST FUNERAL HOME 1060 Carolina 598-3332

To Delia & Family, I'm so glad we were able to visit this summer...talking with "Brooks" was always a pleasure and I know how he loved his family and his Lord...a true man's man with a heart of gold and love for teaching kids. We were so sad to hear of our friend's passing. For the both of us he was cousin, colleague, mentor, and teacher. Marty an I enjoyed our visit with him so much when we were in El Paso, and he has always held a special place in our hearts. Delia I would like to pass on my condolences to you and your family, Mr. Brooks was a great man who paddled me a couple of times. A great friend of my dads as they started their teaching careers in Presidio. God bless all of you and may this great teacher, coach, and mentor rest in peace.
