Francisco Lorenzo Vilorio (Frank), age 92, El Paso, Texas. Born in Calabazar de Sagua, Cuba. All who knew him would say he loved his family and his friends and his friends as family. In 1961 Frank sacrificially sent his wife and three children out of Cuba via commercial airlines. Once he knew they had arrived safely on American soil he followed fleeing for his life from a communist regime. His story is one books are made of- risking his life and leaving parents, aunts, uncles, siblings, friends, the life he knew, his profession and his beloved country. Once in the United States he did not rest till the remaining members of his family were free. He was a doctor in Cuba and worked hard to continue his profession here. Many sleepless nights studying to pass Medical exams with a Spanish/English Dictionary in one hand and the medical book in the other. In 1964 he became owner of the hospital in Fabens, Texas. He became a pilot and bought his own plane in order to visit his patients who lived in remote farm areas. The mention of his name, Dr. Vilorio, stirs strong memories with his patients, staff and anyone who knew him. He served on the Board of Medical Doctors at Del Sol Hospital for many years. Frank was preceded in death by his wife Connie Vilorio, granddaughter Christa Joy Balsiger, his brothers Pedro and Carlos Vilorio. He is survived by his children Mariana Balsiger and her husband Mark, Marivi Isaac and her husband Charles, Frank Vilorio and his wife Crystal. Grandchildren Adriana Kiryakakis and her husband Greg, Justin Isaac and his wife Amanda, Daniel Isaac. Great grandchildren Jace Thompson, Ava Thompson, Davis Thompson, Mitchell Thompson, Aliah Isaac, Logan Isaac. And his sister Lourdes Hauge. Visitation Monday, February 4th from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral Service February 5th 10:30 am, Rev Charles Isaac officiating.
