Born to Ike and Mae Danley, Fred was training racehorses alongside his father by the age of 14. It wasn't long before they each ran competitive stables of their own. In 1964 he married Rita J. Danley, and together they built a life and legacy in the horse racing industry; breeding, raising, breaking and training horses around the clock.
Fred loved the business but he always told his kids the truth about it: If you want a life, you have to go find one, because this work doesn’t leave room for much else. They shared his love of horses, but found their own paths through rodeo and beyond, just like he encouraged them to. He leaves behind a wealth of memories and hard-won lessons.
Rita Danley preceded Fred in death in 2014.
He later married Kimberly, who helped him carry on his highly successful breeding, racing and training operations. She was also his primary caretaker during the late stage of his life.
He is survived by his wife, Kimberly, his children Destre (Stoney) Burks and Dusten (Marilyn Stroud) Danley; Stepchildren: William Guard, Tyra VanBelle, and Wayne (Kathy) Harris. Grandchildren: Cole Kacie, Braiden, Skyler Burks and Devon Bason, Kyle Lane, Dakota and Nokona Danley, Step grandchild; Casey (Kaylen) VanBelle, Sparlin Darby; Great granddaughters Ayla Burks and Lanee Willoughby; Fred's sister Diana Martin, niece Donna Martin, sister-in-law Debbie Mallestos, nephew Don L. Danley and his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife Rita J Danley, his parents Mae and Ike Danley, his brother John L. Danley, his brother-in-law Farley Martin , sister-in-law Sharon Danley. and brother-in-law Anthony Montoya.
He lived a full life and loved his family. He made lasting friendships and left his mark on everyone who knew him, and on the industry he gave his life to.
