Fred J. Kowalewski, beloved husband, loving father and devoted grandfather was surrounded by family when he passed away peacefully on June 26, 2018. Born on February 25, 1941 in Chicago, IL and raised in El Paso, TX, Fred graduated from Cathedral High School, attended Texas Western College; and served in the US Navy. He proudly served the community of El Paso for 23 years as a firefighter with the EP Fire Department. Fred was an amazing chef and baker, an avid reader, music lover and cared deeply for his many fur babies. Although he traveled the world; Disneyland was his favorite destination. Fred was gentle, kind; and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Janina and Sigmund Kowalewski. Fred is survived by his wife of 32 years, Rebecca; his children, Daniel M. Rubalcava (Lauren), David A. Rubalcava, Regina M. Bonilla (Miguel), Lorece Elshamy (Hussein), and Ted J. Kowalewski (Yvonne); and his grandchildren: Ava, Chloe and Mason Bonilla, Omar Elshamy, and Tessa Kowalewski.
