Gary Dodson - loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend - passed away on Monday, April 25th, surrounded by his family. He was 67 years old. He was born and raised in Carlsbad, NM, a graduate of Carlsbad High School and earned a Bachelors degree from New Mexico State University. He lived in Nassau, Bahamas, from 1966 to 1970, where he met is wife, Beverly Kaye Daniels, whom he married in 1969. Gary started his professional career as an accountant for CH Leavell Construction Company, working on a multi-million dollar project to build the first Casino and Hotel on Paradise Island, Bahamas, as well as the bridge from New Providence Island to Paradise Island. He spent the balance of his career as a general manager for El Paso Amusement Company, where he managed real estate properties and arcade game distribution across the United States. Gary was an active member of the El Paso Country Club for 27 years, serving on the Board of Governors from 1993 to 1995 and was Treasurer in 1995. He was very involved in the John Hancock All American Golf Classic, serving as Chairman in 1993 and 1994. Gary was also on the Board of Directors of Amusement & Music Operators of Texas, serving as the Zone Vice President for El Paso. Gary is very loved by his family and friends and took immense pleasure in being with those closest to him. He enjoyed his weekend tee-times and spending time with his family. Those who knew him well loved him, respected him and enjoyed his great sense of humor. He is preceded in death by his parents – Madison Campbell “M.C.” Dodson and Rena Katherine Dodson of Carlsbad, New Mexico. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Beverly; two children – Kimberly McMullen and husband Patrick of Phoenix, Arizona; Jim Dodson and wife Rachel, of Chandler, Arizona; two grandchildren – Keely and Colin McMullen; and brother – Jim Dodson of Casa Grande, Arizona. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Martin Funeral Home West, 128 N. Resler Drive, El Paso, Texas 79912.
