George Alvarez

2/22/1922 – 3/4/2015

George entered Heavens Gates on March 4, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents: E.T. and Margarita Alvarez; his loving wife of 55 years Delia; his brothers: Eduardo A. and wife Angelica and Dr. Robert Alvarez. Delia and George built their life in San Clemente, Ca. for 25 years. After her death George moved back to Texas and resided with his niece Sylvia Alvarez Pogue and her husband Jim. He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends. George served our nation in the US Navy during WWII. His laughter, smile and good sense of humor will be miss by all that knew and loved him. He was a faithful scout master. George was a teacher to all, avid golfer and tennis player. He was a lifelong member of Knights of Columbus. George’s love for God was expressed thru his devotion and faithfulness to the Catholic Church wherever he was. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Knights of Columbus, Be an Angel (beanangel.org) or the charity of your choice. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 pm Friday, March 13, 2015 at Hillcrest Funeral Home-Carolina with a Vigil at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at St. Raphael Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Evergreen East Cemetery.
