He is preceded in death by his parents Jacobo and Dominga Perea and his brother James Perea.
George Perea is survived by his loving companion of 20 years Rebecca Phillips and her daughters Courtney and Camille who shared many happy years together. Daughter, Dr. Patricia Perea of Albuquerque, NM, his 3 brothers, Tony Perea of Vado, NM, Mario Perea of Lubbock, TX (Lucy), Max Perea of Lubbock, TX (Norma). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who very much enjoyed playing with the many animals on his pecan farm during their childhood.
He will also be missed by his German Shephard, Blu and Boxer, Canela.
He was employed by the USDA as a cattle inspector.
George for many years participated in the American Quarter Horses Association and trained race horses and competed in quarter horse racing.
His brothers gently nicknamed him the horse whisperer as he took on several unruly and unwanted horses which quickly connected to George and saw his loving humanity and sensibility toward all animals and nature alike.
He spent joyful days on his pecan farm and caring for his many animals.
George will be missed by his family and friends and the humor he employed when solving everyday problems.
Funeral services will be on Friday, August 23, 2019 at Martin Funeral Home, 128 N. Resler, El Paso, TX 79912. Visitation 10:00 am - 11:00 am with a Rosary at 11:00 am.
Mass will be at St. Patrick Cathedral, 1118 N. Mesa, El Paso, TX 79912.
Burial will be at Memory Gardens of the Valley, 4900 McNutt Rd, Santa Teresa, NM 88008.
