

Our father Gerardo was born in Cd. Juarez, Chih on March 8, 1959. In January of 1981, he married his teenage sweetheart Maria de Jesus. Together they had three children; Carolina, Monica, and Gerardo Armando Jr.
Growing up he was an altar boy at the Iglesia del Rosario at the age of 12. He later participated in a parade as part of his school’s drumline from Secundaria Federal 12 Altavista. As a young adult he joined a soccer team with friends from his neighborhood.
Our father was a man of different trades. He worked picking onions, as a cook at Church’s, making jackets at a factory, as a fork lift driver at Johnson & Johnson where he worked for 13 years, as a yard keeper, and most recently he worked at a horse ranch.
Our father enjoyed watching soccer and football games as well as boxing. His favorite soccer team was Club America, his NFL team was the Pittsburgh Steelers, and his favorite boxer was Julio Cesar Chavez. He attended concerts that included Bon Jovi, ZZ Top, Los Bukis, and most recently the Beatles tribute band, Fab Four.
He went by multiple nicknames such as: Cuino, Gera, Jerry, Puppet, Lucky, and Koolaid Man. His favorite phrases to use were: Slowly but Surely, Powerful, Somos Pocos Pero Locos, Follow me to America, Why So Much Violence, and God is Good.
He was a storyteller who was also very funny and extremely spiritual. He always prayed before eating, was always willing to give a helping hand, always sparked a conversation with strangers, and always blessed everyone.
Gerardo is survived by his wife Maria and three children, Carolina Herrera, Monica Carreon, and Gerardo Armando Carreon Jr; 4 granddaughters Brianna Marie Alanis, Natalia Herrera, Jazlynne Itzel Velarde, Nayeli Herrera; 1 great-granddaughter Kaelani Alexa Guzman; 3 sisters Ramona Gomez Carreon, Magdalena Duarte Carreon, Guadalupe Salazar Martinez; one brother Alberto Armenta. He was preceded by his mother Magdalena Neri, father Armando Carreon, and grandmother Juanis Huerta; brother Daniel Carreon Neri and sister Juana Renteria Carreon.
Active Pallbearers: Gerardo Armando Carreon, Jr., Alejandro Rodriguez, Jr., Jesus Herrera, Raymundo Munoz, Ray Munoz, Jimmy Vale, Ruben Cabrales. Honorary Pallbearer: Alberto Armenta.
