Gertrude Maria Annabi, née Koepke, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and the cherished matriarch of her family, passed peacefully into eternal life on September 26, 2026, in El Paso, Texas, at the age of 85. After bravely facing cancer, she spent her final moments as she had lived her life: surrounded by the family she loved so deeply.
Gertrude was born on September 22, 1941, in Frankfurt, Germany. As a young girl, she immigrated to the United States with her parents, Emil and Gertrude Elisabeth Koepke, and her brother, Karlheinz. She later met the love of her life, Hani Annabi, and together they began an extraordinary partnership that would span 65 years.
Gertrude was the devoted mother, grandmother to 11 grandchildren, and great-grandmother to 3 great-grandchildren. Her Catholic faith was at the center of her life. A devout Catholic and Eucharistic minister, Gertrude did not merely speak about her faith—she lived it.
She is survived by her husband, Hani Annabi, her three sons, Michael, Jeffrey, and Emil as well as her grandchildren Hani, Nicholas, Jeffrey, Abraham, Julia, Nikki, Jena, Chaya, Joseph, Jo’aye, Elsa and great grandchildren Michael, Sara, Hana.
May she rest in eternal peace in the loving arms of our Lord Jesus Christ.
