Gilberto Leon Perez, Sr. of Clint, TX passed on December 25, 2021. Gilberto was born April 11, 1940 in San Elizario, TX, to Jose Perez, Jr. and Gertrudis Perez. Gilberto graduated from Ysleta High School and served his country in the United States Army. After leaving military service, Gilberto continued to serve his country as an Inspector with the United States Customs Service (USCS) that later became Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in 2003. Gilberto retired from CBP as a Senior Officer in 2006 with 36 years of federal service. On February 16, 1974, Gilberto married Carmen Treviso Perez and shared 45 years together and raised 3 children. Gilberto was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carmen T. Perez; parents, Jose Perez, Jr. and Gertrudis Perez; sisters, Elena P. Solis (Felix Solis) and Lucia P. Lujan (Reymundo Lujan); and brother, Ernesto Perez (Martha Perez). He is survived by his children, Gilbert Leon Perez, Jr. (Maria), Becky Perez Jones (Bob), and Michelle Lee Perez; 6 grandchildren, Mia Adele, Ava Carmen, Gilbert Leon III, Sidney Robert, Joseph Leon, and Aubrey Nicole; and his 2 brothers, Willie Perez, Sr. (Irene) and Arturo Perez (Gloria). Gilberto enjoyed living life with family, friends, and his animals. He will forever be beloved as a strong man of love, devotion, compassion, generosity, and humor. He loved his family dearly and devoted his life to being a loving and caring son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Gilberto was our greatest blessing and comfort. He holds an exceedingly special place in his family’s hearts and will be deeply missed. Heaven received another angel and let us not say “goodbye” but rather “until we meet again.” “Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day. Mass: January 10, 2022, 8:30am at San Lorenzo Parish. Interment: 10:30am at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
