Gilbert lived a life of hard work and an endless effort to ensure all his loved ones were taken care of. He exemplified the ideal of giving you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He spent many days going with little to no sleep because someone needed help, and he always tried, to the best of his abilities, be there. Gilbert was simply an honest and true person; he was always himself with a big smile and laugh. A stern look when he was angry, but always a strong warm hand to help you up whenever it was needed. He never saw himself as anything great or special, he just did what he felt needed to be done.
‘Over the Mountains of the Moon, Down the Valley of the Shadow, Ride, boldly ride,’ The shade replied, ‘If you seek for Eldorado!’ – E.A. Poe
