Gisela De Lourdes Murphy, 75, became our guardian angel on February 26, 2015. You’ve heard that death travels in threes, well it proved true this week. We all lost a mother, grandmother and friend. She retired last year from the Texas A&M Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program for adults after serving the El Paso Community for over 21 years. Our mom was the kind of person to jump at the chance to help others and when she retired, she really missed the families that she worked with. She will be mostly remembered by her students for her Neapolitan Cake Recipe. She was preceded in death by her son Erin, her parents Samuel and Guadalupe Alvarado, her brothers Samuel, Horacio, and Sergio, and her sister Yolanda, all of whom she dearly loved. They are now all together in heaven, God rest their souls. Her survivors include her sons Shawn, Roland and Ron Murphy, as well as all her nephews, nieces and cousins. She was especially fond of her 7 grandchildren who will miss her immensely. Her grandchildren are Dominique, Alejandra, Seth, Kennedy, Danika, Connor, and Geselle. Rest in Peace mom. Visitation will be held Friday, March 6, 2015 from 5-9pm and the Rosary will be held at 7pm at Hillcrest Funeral Home-East. The funeral mass will be held at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church at 9:30am on Saturday March 7, 2015 and interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery. Services under the direction of Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 N. Carolina, 915-598-3332.
