

In loving memory of Gladys Marilyn Roberts Lewis, born January 12, 1950 in Macon Georgia, to the late Arthur and Jessie Roberts. A 1968 graduate of Ballard Hudson High School, Gladys pursued a bachelor’s degree of education and psychology at Georgia State University, graduating in 1973.
In 1963, as an 8th grader, Gladys met Billy Joe Lewis. They courted throughout high school and would later marry on January 7, 1970, following Billy’s return from Vietnam. That union produced one son, Johnny MacArthur Lewis. Gladys and Billy remained married until the time of her death for a total of 47 years.
A career military couple, in 1983, while living in Montgomery, Alabama, Gladys and family attended Dexter Avenue Baptist Church. It was there she professed her love for Jesus Christ and formally joined the church under the leadership of Reverend Dr. G. Murray Branch. From that point forward Gladys was a loyal servant of Jesus Christ and active church member in each city she resided. Upon her husband’s retirement to El Paso, Texas, Gladys was an active member of Del Sol Church under the leadership Walter Mueller. She is survived by husband: Billy Joe Lewis, El Paso, TX; son: Johnny Lewis, Meridian, ID; daughter-in-law: Karen DeAnn Lewis, Meridian, ID; grandson: Elijah Theodore Lewis, Boise, ID; granddaughter: Isabella Monique Lewis, Meridian, ID; three sister-in-law: Estella, Judy and Carita; all of the state of Georgia; and a host of special loved ones that she touched throughout her travels both locally and abroad.
