Gonzalo Avila Jr.

Gonzalo Avila Jr.,65 yrs, passed away Sunday, July 16,2017. He was a lifelong resident of El Paso and a member of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. Gonzalo is preceded in death by his father; Gonzalo Avila and brothers; Manuel and Lorenzo Avila. He is survived by his mother, Carmen Avila; sisters: Rosa Billingsley, Velia Ramos; Carmen Valle, Eva Allen; brother: Guillermo Avila and many nieces & nephews. Gonzalo’s family wishes to give a very special thanks to the following medical staff that cared for him throughout his 10 yrs on dialysis: DSI Renal West staff, Melissa RN, Maria PCT, Victoria RN. He was very fond of these dialysis caregivers & felt they cared about him & went above & beyond. Dr. Manuel Lopez, Dr. David Opawami, Dr. Chitti, Dr. Emanuel Anekwe, Dr. Richard Pieri. The medical staff at the Montwood Medical Ctr: Dr. Ajai Agarwal, Dr. Victor Song Bandith, Wanda FNP, Yvonne Vasquez RN. Gonzalo had a good sense of humor & enjoyed friendly bantering. He enjoyed listening to live music, going to the casino, & spending time with his friends. He traveled extensively prior to his illness. Visitation will be Thursday, July 20,2017 from 5:00-9:00 pm with a vigil at 7:00pm at Hillcrest Funeral Home-Carolina. Funeral Mass is Friday, July 21, 2017 at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church-Mission. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
