Our dear aunt, Graciela Muñoz, sadly passed away on August 4th, 2024, at the age of 85. She was born in Casas Grandes, Chihuahua, Mexico on June 9, 1939, she became a US citizen in the early 1980s when she moved to El Paso Texas. She was a wonderful and beloved member of our family who was always there to offer support, guidance, love, and a good laugh. She loved to knit, solve crossword puzzles, bake, and garden.
She is survived by her son Leonardo (Imelda) Muñoz; granddaughter Denisse Muñoz and great-granddaughter Stephanie Valles; sisters Bertha Guerrero, Hermila (Aureliano) Ambriz, and Oralia Quiñones, nieces Martha (George) Rojas, Carmen Guerrero, Gabriela Ortega, Sandra Montiel, Claudia Ambriz, and Griselda Quiñones, nephews Ricardo (Maria) Guerrero, Carlos (Edith) Ambriz, Eduardo Ambriz, Raul Montiel, and Luis Vazquez; grandnieces Melissa Aguilar, Alejandra Guerrero, Hannah Trottier, Luz Angelica (Luis) Silva, Perla Guerrero, grandnephews Luis (Juanita) Vazquez, Gabriel (Jazmin) Vazquez, and Ricardo Guerrero Jr.
She was preceded in death by her parents Reynaldo Muñoz and Hijinia Soto Muñoz, sister Dora Montiel, brothers Abel Muñoz, Reynaldo Muñoz, Jr., Ofelia Rico, brother-in-law Ricardo Guerrero, Nieces Bertha Vazquez and Blanca Montiel.
Known to her friends and family as “Lula”, she was a retired caretaker of over 20 years who spent her golden years living with her sister Bertha and niece Carmen. More than an aunt, Lula was a second grandmother to her grandnieces/nephews and celebrated every holiday, birthday, and any special occasion with us. Lula was a staple in our lives who added many laughs and love, we will feel her absence but will forever cherish the memories we’ve made.
A visitation for Graciela will be held Friday, August 9, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria del Angel Restlawn, 8817 Dyer Street, El Paso, Texas 79904, followed by a prayer service at 7:00 PM.
