With profound sadness we announce the passing of Guadalupe T. Bonilla, on December 16, 2020, our loving and devoted mother and friend to all whose lives she touched. She left us while sleeping peacefully at her residence in El Paso, Texas. She was in her 82nd year.
Born in Chihuahua, Mexico she witnessed incredible changes to her world. Moved to Juarez with her parents and attended Jesus and Mary and Sacred Heart Catholic Schools in El Paso and later became a teacher. During the walks to school, she met her husband Julian Bonilla, married in Juarez and through a lot of struggles, immigrated to El Paso. Mom was wonderfully devoted to her 6 children, Julian A, Eddie, Mike, Terry, Fili and Christy Bonilla (Roland)
She was a loving Grandmother to Eddie JR, Julian JR, Virginia, Melanie, Joel, Mikey, Aby, Pearl, Sage, Angela, Estrella, Austin, Leila and great grandkids Andy, Elijah, Mia, Janan and loving Aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sister Sylvia Ruiz
Our mother was busy, raising children, volunteering at the school and eventually going back to work. Lupe or Mrs. Bonilla as some called her, lived a full life and was a wonderful mother. She loved to do art work, was highly skilled with sowing and knitting needles, and enjoyed her weekly outings to the local shops-a farm girl at heart, gardening was also a passion.
Mom was a strong, determined, stern, but loving woman. Most of all she loved her children above anything else and her family was her number 1 priority. She instilled in her children strong values that have served them well. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. We will miss her every day!
Special thanks to the wonderful doctors and nurses at TTUHSC- Department of Family and Community Medicine, especially Dr. Molokwu, who provided invaluable care to Mom for many years and Father Jose Morales for his spiritual guidance.
A private celebration of Lupe or Mrs. Bonilla’s, life will be held at Restlawn, 8700 Dyer, El Paso, Texas on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 beginning at 10 a.m.
