Guadalupe R. Garrocho, 100, passed away peacefully on Saturday January 18, 2025 at his daughter's home in Canutillo, Texas. Our father was born on December 12, 1924 to Florencio and Cresencia Garrocho in Cuidad Valles, San Luis Potosi, Mexico. He was a long time resident of Brownsville, Texas.
He came to the United States in the early 1950's where he met our mother, Hortencia, in Brownsville, Texas. They married in 1953 and raised a family of three. Magdalena Terry (husband Wayne), Jesus Garrocho (wife Maria Luisa) and Gricelda Kichefski (husband John). He was blessed with 4 grandchildren, Joseph Ned Glynn, Jesus Garrocho, Jr., Liana Diaz and Michelle Medina; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson (Malik). Our parents would have celebrated 72 years of marriage later this year. We were blessed to have been able to celebrate his 100th birthday. This was a milestone which he strived to achieve, and did so by the grace of God and his patron saint, our Lady of Guadalupe.
He took pride in everything he did. This was evident when you saw his well manicured lawn. Our father worked at Port Brownsville for over 25 years. He was also well known for his strong work ethic and always giving his best. This is a legacy he leaves to us.
Upon retirement, he kept busy by tending to his avocado tree and "chile pequin" plants while also planning trips with our mom to the Louisiana casinos with friends.
Guadalupe is preceded in death by his grandson Joseph Ned Glynn, his parents Florencio and Cresencia Garrocho, sisters Susana and Paulita, brother Cirilio.
