Guillermo R. Lizarraga, fondly known as Momo, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 6, 2013 after a brief battle with pneumonia. He was born September 13, 1920 in Tucson, Arizona to Santos G. Lizarraga and Julia Lemas de Lizarraga.

During WWII, Momo served his country by helping with the war effort. Unable to fight for his country because of hearing loss, he left his beloved University of Texas at Austin to pursue a degree in Aeronautical Engineering . Upon graduation, he was hired at Consolidated in Ft. Worth, Texas, where he designed parts for the B-24 Bomber. He had a rich and wonderful life. He belonged to many civic organizations including the Juarez Rotary Club, the Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Kiwanis Club and the Juarez Country Club, where he was an avid golfer and enjoyed the camaraderie of his many friends. He also helped found the Juarez School for the Blind.

In his later years, he and Sophie returned to El Paso to be near his daughter, Irma and her family. He will be remembered for his legacy of love, compassion and a warm sense of humor. He was always willing to help and serve. He was dearly loved and will be forever missed.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Sophia Miranda Lizarraga, his parents, his brother, Servando and his sister, Lygia Gleichauf.

He is survived by his daughter, Irma Yvonne Lizarraga Minjares (Orlando), his grandsons, Orlando A. (Paola) and Guillermo I. (Veronica) Minjares. Also survived by his two beautiful great-grandchildren, Diego and Isabella Minjares, his sister, Reva Diaz, and his cousin, Alex Lizarraga.

Familia Lizarraga ~ On behalf of our mother, Dorothy Licona, please accept our heartfelt condolences. She remembers Momo, of course, and his special friendship to our father especially. We all do, I'm sure. These two men taught us so much about the meaning of friendship and connections. May sweet memories supplant your sadness in time... Con afecto, Adela, Dorothy, and family
