EL PASO – Guy Edward Pearce, a beloved and cherished resident of Anthony, Texas, passed away on November 28, 2025, at the age of 90. He was born on February 2, 1935, in Roswell, New Mexico to Alfred Burnett Pearce and Gladys Mae Burton Pearce.
Called to a life of ministry, Guy embraced his vocation with dedication, fostering diverse and inclusive congregations where all were welcomed and valued. While raising five children, he returned to college to pursue his education, earning his B.A. from Sul Ross State University in 1969, his Master’s degree from Southern Methodist University in 1972, and his Doctorate of Ministry from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in 1993.
Guy pastored in the West Texas/New Mexico Methodist Conference for over 30 years, leading congregations at Grace United Methodist and Asbury United Methodist Churches in El Paso, and Anthony United Methodist Church, among many others. His faith was at the center of his life, and he had the honor of officiating the marriages of five of his children and four of his grandchildren, as well as presiding over the funeral of his mother, Gladys Pearce.
He was very active in El Paso city and county governments, and served for many years on the Board of University Medical Center in El Paso. In addition to his active career and love of family, he enjoyed traveling and fishing in Rockport with his wife, wood working, gardening, and playing golf.
He is survived by his devoted spouse, Shirley Jean Pearce, and his children: Kathy Pearce McReynolds (Stephen McReynolds), David Pearce, James Pearce (Julie Pearce), Edward Pearce (Sandra Pearce), Cynthia Pearce Wall (Jim Wall), and his step children: Michael McLaughlin, Larry Mclaughlin, Rhonda McLaughlin Camacho (Edgar Camacho).
Guy was also a proud Grandaddy to Gretchen Palmer (Alex Palmer), Benjamin Pearce, Michele Pearce Bose (Marshall Bose), Derek Pearce (Ashley Pearce), Jeremy Pearce, Cassandra Pearce, Albert Nungaray, Laura Nungaray, Cody Pearce, Jerod Beeson (Grace Beeson), Jody Beeson, Joshua Beeson (Heather Hayes), and equally proud to be Nana’s Guy to Rebeca Caceres, Leticia McLaughlin, Davis Camacho, Alva Joe Camacho, Victoria Camacho Mortus, and Elizabeth Camacho Brownlees.
His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren: Maxwell Guy Palmer, Tessa Bose, Trevor Bose, Fischer Pearce, Harper Pearce, Jacob West, Claire Love Beeson and Callum Brownlees.
Services will be held at Saint Mark’s United Methodist Church, 5005 Love Rd, El Paso, TX 79922, on December 12, 2025, beginning at 10:00 a.m. A committal service will follow at Memory Gardens of the Valley, 49 McNutt Rd, Santa Teresa, NM 88008, at 1:00 p.m.
Guy Edward Pearce will be remembered for his inspirational life, his devotion to his family and faith, his gift of storytelling, and the profound love he shared with all who were fortunate enough to know him.
