Hermandina (Emmo) Candelaria died peacefully at her home on January 18, 2022 in El Paso, Texas. She graduated from Ysleta High School, graduated from Hotel Dieu School of nursing, member of the Catholic Daughters, Cancer Society, Good Will, Chamber of Congress, Secretary of the El Paso Osteopathic Auxiliary, Member the Telephone Committee of Newcomers, Successful Business Woman, and was a Pillar of the Community.
After graduating from Hotel Dieu, she enjoyed working in Public Health. She worked hard putting Dr. LA Candelaria through Medical School, then spent many years as a successful business woman owning and managing many real estate properties. Her hobbies her tennis, skiing, she loved to dance and swim.
Emmo is survived by her children David Candelaria, Darlene Candelaria and Dianna Candelaria; and grand children Chelsea Candelaria, Chad Candelaria, Cameron Candelaria, Alex Martinez Candelaria and Xena Azulette Candelaria and her long time partner and friend James Sheehan, her sisters Elsie Avalos, Juanie Turner, Irma Neria and brothers Oscar Apodaca and Robert Apodaca.
Emmo was born on February 6, 1933 in El Paso, Texas to Jose and Librada Apodaca.
Viewing will be from 9am-11am on Tuesday February 1, 2022 at Martin funeral home east followed by funeral service from 11a- 12n followed by the burial at Mount Carmel cemetery from 12n -1:30p.
A reception will follow the burial at Martin funeral home east. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Emmo’s amazing life.
