Hermelinda M. Ruiz was a memorably resilient, intelligent woman. Her 95 years of life were propelled by her strong faith that never faltered and love for her family. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Eligio Ruiz, Sr. at a young age and from then on devoted her entire life to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Always placing the needs of her family before her own up until the very end. Through her patient, warmhearted, caring nature she touched the lives of many. She was strong in her Catholic faith and graciously served the church by being a member of the Guadalupanas and Altar Society at Cristo Rey Catholic Church. She was an amazing cook and gardener who loved to be surrounded by her family. She selflessly helped raise all of her grandchildren who continue to care for and love her unconditionally. No matter who, she always had a smile for everyone. She will be greatly missed, but her love and memory will go on through those who adore and love her.
She is survived by her five adoring children: Eligio “Lico” Ruiz, Jr., Martha R. Salas(George), Antonio “Tony” Ruiz (Monica), Susana”Susie” Ruiz, and Beatriz “Betty” Ruiz-Yedwab(Alan); eight loving grandchildren: Jorge “Jorgito” Salas(Ana Salas), Adrian Salas(Denise Elliott), Andrea Ugarte(Adrian Gonzalez), Briana Ugarte, Jacqueline “Jackie” Yedwab, Michael Yedwab, Anthony Ruiz, Aaron Ruiz, and two loving great-grandchildren: Lilianne “Lili” Salas, Seraphina “Sera” Salas. Also multiple nieces, nephews, godchildren and friends. The family would especially like to thank her nephrologist, Dr. German Hernandez, cardiologist, Dr. Abraham Gonzalez, and Dr. Jose Barahona for being so caring, compassionate, and providing her with exceptional treatment.
A vigil for Hermelinda will be held Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 7:00 PM at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 North Carolina Dr., El Paso, Texas 79915. A visitation will occur Thursday, December 30, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, 1060 North Carolina Drive, El Paso, TX 79915. A funeral mass will occur Friday, December 31, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 8011 Williamette Ave, El Paso, Texas 79907. A burial will occur Friday, December 31, 2021 at 11:30 AM at Mt Carmel Cemetery, 401 S Zaragoza Rd, El Paso, Texas 79907.
