Hortencia Rojas, our beloved mother went to her eternal rest on March 7th. She was born in Mexico however, lived most of her life in El Paso, where she attended Beall Elementary School. She was preceded in death by her parents, Antonio and Josefa Ruiz, her husband, Arnulfo Rojas and son Ed (Porky) Rojas. She also outlived her siblings, Paulina, Dolores, Arturo and Roberto and her longtime companion, Eloiso DeAvila. She is survived by her son, Gilberto (Porky) Rojas and daughter, Irma Hernandez, along with her grandchildren, Gilbert Rojas Jr., Fred Rojas, Yvette Vargas, Mark Rojas, Stephanie Lopez and 4 great grandchildren. She was a devoted mother and working single parent to her youngest children, instilling in them love and forgiveness. No words can express the love and special care given by Margie Estrada to her the last 10 years of her life and also to Eloiso (Baby) DeAvila and Dolores DeAvila for their warmth and love for many years. Special thanks to all those who attended to her so caringly at Pebble Creek Nursing Center. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 12th from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 North Carolina, with Vigil beginning at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, March 13th at 11:00 am at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 8011 Williamette. Interment will follow at Evergreen Alameda Cemetery.
