

Sunday, January 2, 2022. James, or, Will, as he was known by family and childhood friends, was born on
December 22, 1994, to Bob and Lisa Arterbury. He graduated from Americas High School in El Paso,
Texas in 2013, and New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico, with a degree in History in
2018. During his years at Americas High School and New Mexico State, Will enjoyed playing trombone in
the marching bands, concert bands, jazz bands and in the AHS Symphony Orchestra. Those who knew
him well, know that Will loved studying all types of history, and could talk history and politics all day
long! Will was an avid gamer and played with many friends locally, and around the world. He also spent
time with friends at the local shooting range, where he was becoming proficient with several types of
firearms. Will was a member of the Eastwood Church of Christ, where he attended since birth.
Will was preceded in death by his father, James Robert “Bob” Arterbury; cousin, Ashley Martinez; and
paternal grandparents, Arlis and Clara Arterbury. He is survived by his mother, Lisa Clark Arterbury of El
Paso; grandparents, Bill and Betty Clark of Las Cruces, NM; aunts and uncles, Robin and Paul Madrid of
Buena Vista, NM; Wayne and Carrie Arterbury, of Hope, Arkansas; Bill Arterbury, of Farmington,
Arkansas; cousins, Mark Arterbury (Katie),of Conway, Arkansas, David Arterbury (Cydni), of Benton,
Arkansas, Brandon Arterbury and Seth Arterbury, both of Farmington, Arkansas, Gabriel Martinez and
Julianne Martinez, both of Las Cruces, New Mexico; and numerous great aunts and uncles, cousins and
friends.
Will was a beloved son, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend. He will forever be loved and missed.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, no service is scheduled at this time. Will is under the care of Martin
Funeral Home East in El Paso. Memorials may be made to the Americas High School Band program, or to
the charity of your choice.
