Dad, James “Jim” Bennie Grunden, of Burnet, TX passed away Thursday, March 22, 2018, at the age of 74. Born July 14, 1943 in Marengo, Indiana, to Bennie and Virginia Grunden. He graduated from Marengo High School in 1961. In 1962, Dad enlisted in the United States Air Force. He faithfully served for 21 years as an aircraft mechanic and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. After retiring from the U.S.A.F, he worked as a rural carrier for United States Postal Service. In, 2003, Dad moved to the Heart of Texas Lake Resort, where he spent his last 14 years in the peaceful hill county. Dad was a scholar, a highly skilled farmer and carpenter, an exceptional fisherman, an avid biker, and a devout patriot.
Dad is preceded in death by his parents Bennie and Virginia, sisters, Missy and Peggy, and son Donald. Dad is survived by sisters, Marilyn, Jenny, Judy, Diana and Allie and brothers, Roger and Jerry. Also left to cherish his memory are his 10 children, 35 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
For his friends, Dad left a legacy of loyalty and comradery. For his family, Dad left a legacy of unconditional love.
