The Reverend James Wolter "Buzz" Hall, retired priest of the Diocese of El Paso, was received into eternal life on Saturday, February 1, 2025. Father Hall was born on May 11, 1942 to his father, † Mr. Arthur James Hall and his mother †Mrs. Kathryn Harriet Wolter Hall.
Father Hall began his priestly formation at St.John's in San Antonio, Texas. He then completed his priestly studies at St. Thomas Seminary in Denver, Colorado and then at Immaculate Conception in Conception, MO. He earned both his Bachelor's degree in Philosophy and Masters in Religious Education.
Fr. Hall was ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of El Paso by The Most Rev. Sidney Metzger (Bishop of El Paso from 1942- 1978) on May 29, 1970. In his 50 plus years of priesthood, Father Hall served in various roles and capacities throughout the Diocese of El Paso. As a founding member of EPISO (El Paso Interreligious Organization) he fought for equality for migrants and the poor. His longest assignment in the Diocese of El Paso was as Pastor of St.Thomas Aquinas from 1991 - 2014.
The vigil service for Father Hall will be held at St.Thomas Aquinas Catholic, 10970 Bywood, El Paso, Texas, 79936 on Friday, February 07, 2025. Public visitation will be from 5:00pm - 7:00pm. A vigil liturgy will be held at 7:00pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated by The Most Rev. Mark J. Seitz at St.Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 10970 Bywood, El Paso, Texas 79936 on Saturday, February 08, 2025 at 9:30am. Interment has been scheduled for a later date.
Father Hall in preceded to eternal life by his father, † Mr. Arthur J. Hall, his mother, † Mrs.Kathryn Harriet Wolter Hall, his sister, † Mary Pamela Moore and his nephew † Sean Gardner.
