

James F. McCann, of El Paso, aged 92 years, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2016. Jim was a retired engineer, whose professional accomplishments included overseeing the concrete construction in the original Dallas Cowboys Stadium, the construction of high-rise hotel and office buildings in cities across the U.S., and the construction of many buildings in White Sands Missile Range. Jim was a U.S. Army Veteran who served in Germany during World War II. He was very proud to have been a founding member of Western Hills United Methodist Church. Jim was an avid golfer and skier and an accomplished outdoorsman. As leader of a Boy Scout Troop, he enjoyed taking his scouts on wilderness hiking trips and boating trips to Caballo Lake. Jim was preceded in death by his son, David. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Betty; by his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Janene McCann of Colorado Springs; by daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and John Forsythe of Terlingua, TX; by granddaughter, Haley McCann, of Houston; by grandson, Marshall McCann, now serving in the U.S. Navy; and by his brother, Jack McCann and family, of Walnut Creek, CA.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 16 at 11:00 A.M. at Western Hills United Methodist Church, 524 Thunderbird Drive, in El Paso. A reception will follow the service. Services entrusted to Martin Funeral Home West. www.martinfuneralhomewest.com
