Janice Marlene "Jan" Anderson went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 5, 2024, in El Paso, Texas. She was born to Gordon and Amy Shook on May 3, 1938, in Regina, Saskatchewan. The daughter of a Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) officer, her family relocated often when she was a child. Jan completed nursing school at the Children's Hospital of Winnipeg and moved to Galveston, Texas, in 1960 to work as a pediatric nurse. On the day she arrived, she met the love of her life and soulmate, Jim Anderson. They were married for 57 years until Jim's passing. Jan was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who enjoyed collecting antiques, Annalee dolls, and Christmas decorations. Her greatest joys were giving thoughtful gifts and spending time with her 10 grandchildren.
Jan is survived by her children James Steven (Cindy) of El Paso, Rebecca Jowers (Raymond) of Rockwall, and Greg (Darla) of Tyler; her grandchildren Scott Anderson, Courtney Anderson, Stuart Anderson, Ashley Anderson, Amy Waller (Caleb), Katherine Gill (Mat), Amanda Franks (Ryan), Jessica Plumb (Drake), Julia Anderson, and Mark Anderson; her great-grandchildren Daniel Waller, Henry Gill, and Baby Boy Plumb; and her sister Sharon Johnston.
A memorial service celebrating Jan’s life will be held on Monday, July 29, at noon at Martin Funeral Home, 128 Resler Dr, El Paso.
