He is survived by his sons, Jesus Hector Duran, Jr. and George Duran (Joe Pon), and daughter, Patricia Duran Adauto (Ricardo); two grandsons, Francisco Garcia, Jr. (Amanda) and Daniel Garcia, and three great-granddaughters, Cara, Kate and Quinn. He was preceded in death in 2017 by his loving wife of 61 years, Eleanor Gonzalez Duran. Born in 1933 to Guadalupe and Pedro Duran, he was the oldest of 10 siblings in the Duran and Candelaria families.
After attending Ysleta High School, he joined the U.S. Air Force and served in Europe and the U.S. as a staff sergeant before launching a civilian career in government service at Fort Bliss. He loved providing for his wife and family, and was self-employed as a bookkeeper for many local El Paso small businesses until recent years, whistling and singing along to the music always playing in his home office. He greeted everyone he met with a smile, ready to make a friend, and his good cheer will be missed by many.
