Mr. Rodriguez was born to Jesus Octavio Rodriguez and Maria Davila on March 4, 1922 in El Paso,Texas.
He attended Aoy and San Jacinto Elementary Schools. On May 1942, Jesus graduated from Bowie High School and was the valedictorian of his graduating class. He attended Texas Western College of Mines (UTEP) for two semesters before he was drafted into the United States Army. He served as a surgical technician in the Bismarck Archipelago Luzon campaign where he was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Philippine Liberation and Good Conduct Victory medals. He was honorably discharged in 1946 as a T5 (Corporal) with the Medical Detachment 737th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion and returned to his studies at Texas Western College of Mines. In 1948, he was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and chemistry. Following graduation, he began a career with the United States Postal Service and was a highly acclaimed employee for 40 years.
Jesus was preceded in death by his parents and all of his siblings: his twin, Nela Galaviz, Xiomara Fenner, Mary Wardy, Transito Rodriguez, Ramon Rodriguez, Cuactemoc Rodriguez, Clara Villalba, and Ofelia Terrazas. Jesus was also preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Vivian Leigh.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 69 years, Norma E. Rodriguez, his devoted and adoring children, Brian Ruy Rodriguez, Priscilla Ann Caballero (Richard+), and Pamela Leigh Sawyer (Kevin).
He is also survived by his precious granddaughter, Victoria Ann Arias.
He is survived by sisters-in-law: Martha Jordan (Felipe), Yolanda Petroff (William), Olga Hernandez (Carlos+), and brother-in-law, Daniel J. Montes (Melody). Jesus leaves behind many nieces and nephews that adored and loved him. Our dad and grandfather was a sweet and gentle soul.
A man of few words that loved listening to music. He was a history buff and an avid reader, never seen without a book or reading material in his hands. He was a gifted artisan who acquired those skills while working with his father who was a master carpenter. Jesus took pride in adorning his homes with those skills.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Rosary at 7:00 PM at Martin Funeral Home West. Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Friday, April 5, 2019 at 11:30 AM at Queen of Peace Catholic Church 1551 Belvidere. Interment will follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery.
Family members will serve as pall bearers.
