Joe Robert (Bobby) Nunez, 88 years of age, sadly passed away on March 16, 2023. Bobby
was born to Jose & Angela (Garcia) Nunez on February 6, 1935, the oldest of 4 siblings.
Bobby graduated from Bowie High School in 1952 where he was an all-star baseball player. An
injury negated his professional baseball career but his love of sports was lifelong.
He entered the United States Army in 1957, serving his Country in Korea and again in Cuba. He
was very proud to be a veteran and an American. Bobby was a firefighter for El Paso Fire
Department, Badge # 186. He was also a World Champion in fast-pitch softball in 1961 & 1962.
Softball and Golf were his favorite sports to play for many, many years.
He moved to Los Angeles in 1969 with his wife Alicia and had his own business "Action Glass"
in Norwalk, Ca. Bobby was the president of the Bowie High School Boosters Club which
provided funding for students, scholarships. He was always proud to be a "Bowie Bear". In
2013, he was inducted to the El Paso Fast-Pitch Softball Hall of Fame.
After retirement, he returned home to El Paso. Bobby lived life on his own terms in every sense.
He loved Frank Sinatra, John Wayne and was the original "foodie".
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Lucy. Survived by his wife Alicia, brother
Carlos and sister Julie. Bobby leaves behind his daughters Kym, Dolores & Christina, 6
grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews.
