

CW4 (Ret) John L. Skidmore passed away on 15 January, 2017 surrounded by family. John was born in Walker, WV on 10 July, 1935, the youngest of 14 children. He is survived by his wife, Billie M. Skidmore, his son, John L. Skidmore II (wife, Christine L. Skidmore), grandchildren, Tia P. Skidmore and Johnathon L. Skidmore, stepchildren, Jacqueline D. Jackson and Christopher J. Crissman, and 7 step-grandchildren. John served in the U. S. Army as an Engineer Parts Specialist, General Supply Specialist, Support Supply Technician, and Unit Supply Technician, earning three Bronze Stars, the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, and the Meritorious Service Medal. Retiring after 28 years of service that included one tour in Korea and two tours in Vietnam, John served as the assistant to Mayor Ramirez, was a member of the Veterans Home Task Force, and was an active member of the VFW, serving as Commander of Post 812 (All American, 00-01) and District 10 (02-03). He was an active volunteer for the El Paso Police Department, American Red Cross, and the El Paso VA Hospital. Visitation will be today, from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm at Funeraria Del Angel Martin East, with prayer services beginning at 12:30 pm. Interment will take place at 2:30 pm at Ft.
