It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jorge Luis Hernandez Arana, who passed away on August 20, 2026, at the age of 56.
Jorge was a truly one-of-a-kind soul. He was free-spirited, faithful, humble, sincere, and always willing to help others. He had a heart that naturally put others before himself, often making sure the people around him were taken care of before thinking of his own needs. His faith was an important part of who he was, and he carried it with him throughout his life.
Jorge was a hard-working man who never shied away from doing what needed to be done. He was strong-willed and, as those closest to him would lovingly say, stubborn and set in his ways. That stubbornness was part of his character—he knew what he believed in and wasn't easily persuaded otherwise. Those who knew him best will remember that trait with a smile, along with the many stories and memories that made Jorge uniquely himself.
Of all the roles he held in life, being a grandpa was one of the most special. Jorge adored his grandson, Sebastian Marquez, and took great pride in being his grandfather. He was, without a doubt, the best grandpa, and the love he shared with Sebastian created memories that will be treasured forever.
Jorge was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Jorge Hernandez and Maria Arana, and his sister, Claudia Hernandez. Though their absence was surely felt throughout his life, the love and memories they shared remained a part of him.
Jorge leaves behind his daughter, Karen Hernandez (Nicholas Marquez); the beloved mother of his child, Zulema Gameros; his cherished grandson, Sebastian Marquez; his brothers, Victor Hernandez (Monica) and Salvador Hernandez; and his sister, Susana Hernandez (Jenny). He also leaves behind his best friend, Felipe Manjarrez, who shared a special friendship and countless memories with Jorge throughout the years.
Jorge's life was defined not by what he had, but by the people he loved, the people he helped, and the memories he left behind. His free spirit, generous heart, strong faith, hard work, and unmistakable personality will be deeply missed by everyone fortunate enough to have known him.
Although he is no longer physically with us, Jorge's love will continue through his daughter, grandson, siblings, family, best friend, and all those whose lives he touched. His stories will be told, his laughter remembered, and his memory carried forward by the people who loved him most.
May Jorge rest in eternal peace, reunited with his loved ones who went before him, and may God's everlasting light shine upon him.
Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever remembered.
Public Visitation will be held at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 North Carolina Drive, El Paso, TX 79915, US, on August 29, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with the Rosary there the same day from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm, followed by Mass from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
