He was born on June 21, 1960, in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Jose and Andrea Perez. He was raised in El Paso, Texas.
Known to many as JP, he began his career as a mechanic, a trade he took great pride in. He later dedicated 20 years of service to the City of El Paso Streets and Recreation Department, from which he retired. Throughout his life, he was known for working hard, having a generous spirit, and showing genuine kindness toward others, always helping when he could.
He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, whether gathering around a meal, celebrating special occasions, or sharing a game of pool. However, his greatest joy in life was becoming a grandfather. Being “Grandpa JP” was the role he cherished most. He loved taking his grandchildren out for lunch, attending their sporting events, and cheering them on with pride. His face would light up whenever he spoke about them.
He is survived by his son, Jose Luis (Maria); his most beloved grandchildren, Sebastian, Santiago, and Jonathan, who brought him great joy; his brother Jesus Perez (Patricia), and his sisters Christina, Cecy (David), Teresa (Jose) and Juanita (Eddie); as well as many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss him deeply.
He was preceded in death by Jose and Andrea Perez, whose love and guidance shaped the man he became.
