

Jose Benjamin Telles born in San Miguel, NM on November 22, 1912 to Maria Ascencion Garcia Telles and Agustin Telles, passed away September 7, 2014 in El Paso. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps having served during World War II. Jose was appointed as Post Master on November 25, 1972 of the U.S. Post Office in Anthony, NM. He was a life member of VFW Post #4384 where he had served as Post Commander from 1994-1996. Jose had also been a member of American Legion Post #122, and held Honorary Membership at the Anthony Rotary Club.
Jose was preceded in death by his wife, Enriqueta Garcia Telles; parents; four brothers, Alfredo, Ramon, Roberto, Eulalio (Lalo); three sisters, Ofelia Uribe, Juanita Baxter, and Lucy Nickels; daughter-in-law, Doris Telles; and grandson, Daniel Lee Owens. He is survived by his children, Fr. John Telles, Louie Telles (Carol Mora), Frances Owens (Ronnie), and Dorothy Terrazas (Art); eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. Jose is also survived by two brothers, Jose Florencio and Felix Telles; sister-in-law, Juanita Escajeda; and many nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at St. Anthony Church (Anthony, NM) with a Rosary to commence at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at 10 a.m. also at St. Anthony Church (Anthony, NM). Interment will follow in Anthony Cemetery. Services entrusted to Funeraria Del Angel Harding Orr & McDaniel, 320 Montana Ave. (915) 533-1646.
