I'll miss all the football games we used to watch together all of us.
Josh your a unique person with a huge heart and I'll never forget you bro. Sometimes we did'nt get along but that's how true friends understand one another. Thank you for being the best roommate and good friend. I should have been there for you more often  "Buddy". I can't believe your gone this isn't fair. Rest in peace my brotha.

Pebbles and BamBam ... that's how we were known when we were little. We were only 3 months apart!  My memory is walking up to Josh after YEARS of not seeing him and asking, "Sorry but are you Joshua Carrera".  He squared up and asked who was asking. So, I told him ...  "I think I'm your aunt, Vanessa.  I'm Javier's youngest sister".  He immediately softened up and we hugged 🤗  It was as if we had never been apart.  He then proceeded to threatened my then boyfriend and we shared some shots 😃 
He was the center of evening that night.  We enjoyed his smile, laughter and banter ❤️ I will always remember him as my BamBam ... my nephew ... my crib companion ❤️

Josh was one of the sweetest and kindest people I’ve ever known. We were all blessed who got to know him. Although it’s devastating that he is gone, I think it’s important to keep his memory alive. One of mine, and I think of this all the time, always makes me smile.

A couple of years after Dad and Mom got married, we moved to the land of chile fields in Anthony,  NM — I-10 Exit 0. I think Jess and I were 8, Tyler 2, and Josh 11. On the weekends Josh and Jess would come to visit. I always waited on pins and needles Friday afternoons for them to arrive. We would play sports, build forts and ride bikes along the endless irrigation canals criss-crossing the farm country. 

One particular night we were all making paper airplanes to see how fast and how far we could get them to fly. Suddenly Josh, struck by some idea, grabbed a stack of paper and a half roll of tape and disappeared into the next room. He kept coming back for more tape, paper, and a pair of scissors. After about an hour he finally emerged with his masterpiece heavy in his hand. To call it a paper airplane would be absurd. Rather, it was a near photo-realistic, scale model of a World War 1 BI-Plane—the kind with double stacked wings, complete with a propeller, landing gear, and a cockpit. It was one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen anyone make with just their hands. 

I’m not sure what happened to that plane, but every once in awhile I think of it, and it always makes my day. Josh had a way of doing that.

Words can’t truly express the loss we’re feeling, but I know God gained an angel. You had the biggest heart and the brightest smile, always joking around and bringing joy wherever you went. Every time I see a polo shirt, I think of you.. 
I’ll never forget our road trips to Disneyland, singing along to music the entire way, or our epic movie marathons especially Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings. My little nerd lol. And every year on my birthday, you’d call and say, “Seesh, you’re getting old, girl!” I’d always say it right back. Our birthdays were just two weeks apart in march &  that connection made it even more special.
Before we’d hang up the phone, you’d always ask, “Who’s my heart?” And I’d say, “Me!”
 Well, Daddy, now you’ll be my heart for the rest of my life.
Thank you for everything. I’ll miss you forever… until we see each other again.

I am deeply saddened by the loss of Joshua. My heart goes out to Javier, Violet, Jessica, Tyler, Derek and the entire family during this unimaginable time. It was an honor to know Joshua and witness the kindness and warmth, he shared with everyone around him. His smile, full of warmth and sincerity, had the power to brighten any room.   
 
To the family, please know you are in my thoughts and prayers. May you find comfort in the cherished memories and the love of those around you.
