Juan was born on Lee Moor Farms in Clint, TX July 14, 1933, to Felipe and Dolores Ayala Arellano. He attended San Elizario Elementary and graduated from Clint High School. He was a natural athlete and was offered an athletic scholarship to play football at a junior college in Oklahoma. Unwilling to go so far from home, he started classes at Texas Western College. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from April 1953 to April 1955. He went to work for the Immigration and Naturalization Service in 1958 and retired after 25 years. Unable to fill his time with his hobby of caring for his land on Fresno Dr, he spent another 12 years as a bus driver for the Ysleta ISD. Meanwhile his family grew as his children added spouses, and he was blessed with 15 grandchildren and 2.9 great grandchildren. His dream was to share the joyful experiences of his childhood with all his family by re-creating his own little ranchito where his children were raised. He always felt working harder would take care of all problems. Juan always provided strength and love and wanted to give his children everything they needed.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents Felipe and Maria de Dolores, brothers Isabel (Chavel), Felipe, Agustin (el Chief) and Refugio (Cuco). Sisters Ramona, Trinidad, and Guadalupe. Also waiting to meet him in heaven are his son Edward Joseph, sons-in-law Jonafor and Daniel, and grandson DJ. Survivors include his wife of 67 years Josefa, sons John (Veronica) and Paul (Cynthia); daughters Carol (Jonafor), Susan (Pete), Sandra (Danny) and Rosalie (Danny) along with many treasured nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family would like to express their gratitude and great appreciation to Kim Hernandez and her son Paul for their loving support and care in Johnny’s last days. A great debt of gratitude is owed to the nurses and supporting staff at Providence Sierra Hospital, especially Arlene Castañon, Director of Nursing, David Hal NP, Dr Fadi Hanbali, Dr Juan Fernandez, Dr Hector Payan. Special thanks to Dr Ralu Hinojos and his office for the wonderful care and special attention he provided Johnny.
