Juana M Fattorini

It is with deep love that we share the passing of our devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Juana M. Fattorini. She was born on March 6, 1940, and left this earth on August 11, 2026, to join our Heavenly Father and her many loved ones who preceded her in death: parents Maria P. and Longino Martinez; Juan, her devoted husband of 55 years; eldest daughter Maria Meza, and siblings Julia M. Ramos; Simona Leyva; Hilario Martinez; Antonio Martinez; Guadalupe Martinez; Jose Guadalupe Martinez; Clara M. Sosa and Jesus Martinez. Juana was born the seventh of ten children in Fresnillo, Zacatecas, Mexico, and grew up in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua. She moved to El Paso shortly after her marriage to Juan, and lived there until her passing. Juana was a skilled and supportive stay-at-home mother who did not stop to rest when the last of her six children went off to school. It was at that point that she began volunteering at Head Start and Mesa Vista Elementary School, where she earned praise as a member of VISA (Volunteers in School Activities) and of the PTA. Throughout their childhoods, Juana enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren participate in sports activities and heartily joined in the cheers of support. Juana also supported her children as they became parents themselves, and was always happy to help care for her grandchildren as needed. Juan and Juana were pillars of Cristo Rey Catholic Church, where Juana volunteered by preparing food and assisting CCD instructors. Juana was also a devoted daughter, visiting her mother every Sunday, where she and her sisters would share stories over multiple cups of coffee and much laughter. After Juan’s passing, Juana preferred to spend most of her time at home, but her loved ones could still coax her into telling stories, which were especially appreciated by her nieces and nephews whose own parents had passed on. Above all, though, Juana was a devoted Catholic and it was her unwavering faith in the Holy Trinity and the Blessed Virgin Mary that allowed her to be grateful for her blessings and gave her strength to endure through the difficult times of her life. Juana spent several hours each day reading prayers, watching masses, reciting the rosary and remembering loved ones, both living and deceased.

Juana is survived by her children Eddie Fattorini, Connie F. Vasquez (Joe), John Fattorini (Cecilia), Victoria Fattorini, and Susana Fattorini (Michael Spitzer); eight grandchildren: Jennifer and Joey Meza; Angela, Jessica and Anika Fattorini; and Jackie, Scout and Katrina Mata; five great-grandchildren; sister Mary Gunter and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Thursday, August, 20, 2026, at Hillcrest Funeral Home-Carolina with a Vigil Service at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on August 21, 2026, at Cristo Rey Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery where Juana and the remains of her daughter Maria will be interred in the family plot.
