Who would have ever known that one day the most beautiful little girl in the world would leave behind so many broken hearts. Juanita Davila Veloz was called home on Sunday, November 29, 2020. She died peacefully at her home in the care of her family. She lived a long and prosperous 94 years of life.
Juanita was born to Margarita and Tadeo Davila in Blackwell, Oklahoma on June 24, 1926. Her parents, along with her brothers Emilio and Felix, emigrated to the U.S. from Zacatecas, Mexico in 1914. The Davila family first moved to Detroit, Michigan, before settling in Blackwell. When Juanita was 8, her parents decided to move to El Paso, TX, where she remained for the rest of her life.
In 1946, Juanita married Alejandro Veloz, Sr. She spent 44 years of marriage to him until his passing in 1990. Juanita found her calling as a Mother and as a Wife. Their marriage brought forward eight children, 16 Grandchildren, and 16 Great Grandchildren.
Besides her husband, Juanita was preceded in death by her sons Carlos and Alejandro, Jr., as well as daughters Margie Sanchez and Liz Aguilar. She had a tremendous love for each of her children and wanted to see them grow old. One of the last things she said before she passed was that she couldn’t leave because she wanted to make sure her remaining children were all going to be ok. Her surviving children are daughter Martha Barajas (Ruben), Gilbert Veloz, David Veloz and Henry Veloz.
Some of her qualities that we will sorely miss were her quick wit and sense of humor. She was a great conversationalist, and always great company. She could easily make a friend out of a complete stranger. She was a beautiful lady, both inside and out. She leaves us all with broken hearts. We will cherish that “a heart that has been broken is a heart that has been loved” - Ed Sheeran.
