

Julia S. Davis, former resident of Smeltertown, Texas (Buena Vista Community) beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend, died peacefully on October 3, 2013 at the age of 85. She retired after 40 plus years working for Border Tobacco and was elected first woman president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary 9173. She was a member of Santa Teresita Catholic Church. She is preceded in death by her husband James Francis Davis. She is survived by her children Ronald James Davis (Yvonne), John S. Davis (Yolanda), Rosie Marin (Javier), Patricia Hernandez (Jesus), Carolyn Davis (Omar), Ina Velazco (niece). Surviving siblings Lupe Gonzalez, Francis Espinosa, Salvador Silva (Martha), Jose Angel Silva, and Enrique Silva (Lupe). She had 13 loving grandchildren, and 27 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers: Frank Marin Jr. (Rinras), Geraldo Marin (Jerry), John S. Davis Jr., James F. Davis (Jimmy), Ron Davis Jr. (Chinito), Vincent Davis, Steven Daly, and Jesse Hernandez. Honorary Pallbearers: Salvador Silva, Jose Angel Silva, Enrique Silva, Ronald Davis, John Davis, Javier Marin, Jesus Hernandez, Roberto Urquidi and Frank Urquidi. Visitation will be on Monday, October 7, 2013 from 5pm to 9 pm with Rosary starting at 7pm at Harding-Orr & McDaniel Funeral Home. Mass services will be on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at 9am at Santa Teresita Catholic Church 3401 Zapal Ave., burial following immediately after at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery.
