It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Lawrence (Larry) Robert Behm, who passed away at the age of 84 on February 1, 2023 in El Paso, Texas. He was born to Irene and Stanley Behm in Wyandotte, Michigan on August 3, 1938.
A true patriot, he loved this country, and was proud to be an American. He served in the US Army, which took him to Hawaii from 1958 to 1960. Upon leaving the military, Larry attended and graduated from Western Michigan University where he met the love of his life, Judy, a woman that would stand by him through thick and thin. Larry and Judy were married in Penfield, NY in 1965. Larry’s career took him and his family to Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and finally Texas. He became a successful business owner until retirement in 2016.
He loved all of God’s creatures, known by his daughters as the animal whisperer. Larry enjoyed traveling the country in his RV and was an excellent marksman. He was an avid University of Michigan fan and March madness was one of his favorite times of the year. Larry loved his annual trip with close friends to a remote area of the Gila National Forest, reachable only on horseback.
The most loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Larry leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Judith Waldon, two daughters, Jennifer Behm and Lauren Seibel (Daniel), granddaughter, Emily Sansing (Michael), grandson, Liam Stanley, great granddaughter, Tinley Sansing, sister, Carole Babik (Jerry), and several nieces and nephews.
Larry was a great man whose impact will be forever felt by his family, that loves him dearly. He was a selfless man whose passing leaves an unfillable gap in the hearts of his loved ones. His ability to sacrifice, provide, support, forgive, and love will be forever engrained in all he knew.
We encourage you to share memories and photos of moments lived with Larry.
