It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Lillie Muriel Peoples, age 88, on Tuesday, May 12, 2020. As the Matriarch of the Peoples Family, Lillie gently cared for her family and friends by sharing her wisdom, her nurturing heart, and her bountiful and delicious feasts over the years. She had a boldness for life and always looked to her LORD for her strength. She was a proud mother to four beautiful children and was an even prouder grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved a good game of Pinochle – which she and her beloved husband of 56 years played with friends almost every day, after which, her game of choice became BINGO – at which she was the master because she won almost every time she played! Her beautiful sweet spirit will truly be missed but will live forever in our hearts with every smile, laughter, and tear shared.

Lillie is survived by; son L.T. Peoples Jr. (Terry); son Rodney Peoples (Delphine); daughter Denise Pelham (Teddy); daughter Tish Times (Roy); sister Etherine Morrison. She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews and by the many beautiful hearts she's touched to cherish her beloved memory. Lillie reunites now with her beloved husband L.T. Peoples, her parents Wesley and Eliza Pugh, and her firstborn grandson, Jesse Pelham.

♥ Loving Tribute ♥

We lived with my grandparents until I was about 5 years old. My grandmother would ALWAYS make a huge breakfast no matter what day it was. I remember waking up to the smell like it was yesterday. She cooked the best meals for 50 people at a time and didn’t break a sweat. She was sooo creative with how she’d give us our presents. One time she gave Derrell & I 100 dollars all in ones in a photo album. My grandmother's house was the first house I laid eyes on and played a piano. I definitely get the trait of having gatherings and people over for cookouts and just all-out feast from my grandmother. As I got older it was like clockwork for the whole family and a bunch of my grandparent's friends to gather at her house. “Foothill”... I’ll never forget that street name. Holds so many strong memories. She was the best tooth fairy ever. She spoiled us sooo much. Lol. After my grandfather passed a lot changed in my life, now that my grandmother is gone it's so significant because she was, in my mind, that piece that holds sooo many memories together from my childhood especially. I can’t lie, I wish I had gone to see her more in my adult life, that is something I’ll never live down. She was so precious... so vital to how I live life now without me even knowing. I’m soooo like my grandparents. My family went to do a drive-by party for her last week for her 88th birthday. I’ll never forget that joy on her face. I love you and miss you forever Grandmommy. ♥♥ Rest In Peace. THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING. Lavell Tramaine Jones

Cassandra, Teddy (Deac) and the entire family of Mrs. Lillie Peoples.
We share our deepest condolences on the loss of your dear mother. Mrs. Lillie was a beautiful, graceful, and loving light to us all. May the memories of Mrs. Lillie’s loving touch and tender embrace bring you comfort today and always. We are grateful her legacy lives through you all. I will always hold dear the occasions we laughed and shared meals, reminisced about her travels (life in Germany), she shared many stories about her family and entertaining. On occasion I could even persuade her to divulge beauty tips on keeping such a youthful and radiant appearance. Upon every trip to El Paso, we always looked forward to our visit with our beautiful friend. She held the gift of love and shared it generously. She will be dearly missed, and we will always treasure each memory and all the lessons learned. With Love - The Henderson Family (Harold, Latoya, Abigail, Xavier, Sage) -

Aunt Lillie was my mother’s sister by love, not blood. They were best friends for almost half a century. Although we lived next door, I always felt like her home was an extension of our home. If I did not like what my mother cooked, I just went next door and Aunt Lillie would feed me. I am going to truly miss her infectious smile, hugs, and soft kisses she would give me on my cheek. When I first got married, she had a long talks with me about putting in the work to make it be successful. I have often thought about our many conversations over my 31 years of marriage and am I so glad she planted seeds in my life by sharing her wisdom. Family, I want you to know that Aunt Shirley and I are sendIng you lots of love. The “Foothill” is well represented in Heaven now that Aunt Lillie has arrived❤️🙏🏿

Mrs. Peoples,
My heart can’t begin to express how much we miss you. I am so thankful for having the opportunity to have known you for the past two years. You taught me SO much during the times we spent together at the Bartlett. I am going to miss you dearly everyday during our daily activities, and I’m going to miss your beautiful smile. I know you’re upstairs in heaven, playing Bingo, probably winning most of the games! I know you’re at peace, rest easy, I love you.

To the family,
I’m very sorry for your loss. Your mother was a remarkable woman. Always knowing how to have fun, and always looking out for the people around her. I pray that you all find comfort and peace during this time.

To Lil People's family, you have my deepest Sympathy. Lil was a very lovely person. I enjoyed being in our birthday club together and visiting her at the Assisted Living center. She was always very happy to see us. We had tea parties and played bingo with her. She and her beautiful smile will be dearly missed.

Can't forget those holidays back in Birmingham, Alabama when we were all just kids, nothing can ever replace those innocent times of our family gatherings during the christmas season visiting with each other, adults in the living room and kids in the bedroom playing. Aunt Lillie had a smile that would light up any room and will truly be missed. Wish I could be there with you to help celebrate Aunt Lillie's homegoing. To my family always remember you will forever be in my thoughts and prayers. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Love you Karol

I so loved seeing Mrs. Lillie whenever I went to El Paso to check in on my mom. No one could ever get me to play Bingo, but she did. She was a Bingo shark, and I enjoyed every minute spent with her. I know she is with her Loving God. Rest in peace, my dear, sweet friend. I miss you already.
