With profound sadness, yet immense gratitude for a life filled with faith, love, and devotion, we announce the peaceful passing of Lucila Esparza, surrounded by her beloved family. She is now reunited with her cherished husband, Manuel, whose love remained forever present in her heart.

Lucila was a woman of deep faith, remarkable courage, and unwavering perseverance. Throughout her life, she faced every challenge with grace, resilience, and quiet determination, inspiring all who knew her. Becoming a naturalized citizen of the United States was among Lucila’s proudest accomplishments and reflected the determination that defined her life.

Blessed with a wonderful sense of humor, she brought laughter, warmth, and joy wherever she went. Her generous spirit and compassionate heart touched countless lives, and she was dearly loved by family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Family was the center of Lucila's world. She was a devoted mother to Margaret (Andre) and Norma (Reed), a cherished grandmother to Patrick, Gabrielle, and Brian, and a proud and loving great-grandmother to Jocelyn, Fletcher, Elaina, and Remington. She also leaves behind her extended family at Nazareth Living Care Center, where she formed meaningful friendships and was cared for with kindness and compassion. Her family also extends their deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and caregivers who cared for her with such compassion, dignity, and professionalism, enriching her life through their dedication and support.

Lucila shared her love in countless ways. She found great joy in tending her garden, patiently nurturing beauty and life. A gifted crocheter, she created treasured keepsakes that will be cherished by her family for generations. She was also an exceptional cook who expressed her love through food, bringing family and friends together around her table. In her career with the El Paso Public School System, she prepared and served meals to thousands of children, taking pride in caring for and nourishing young lives. Her home was a place of comfort, generosity, and welcome, where everyone was treated like family.

Proud of her Mexican heritage, Lucila carried the traditions of her culture close to her heart and shared them generously with those she loved. Through the cherished dichos she repeated throughout her life, she passed down the wisdom of generations, offering guidance, encouragement, and gentle reminders rooted in faith, resilience, gratitude, and love. These treasured sayings became woven into her daughter’s stories, connecting their generation to her heritage.

Funeral services for family and friends will be held at 11:00 a.m. on October 5, 2026, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 2709 Alabama Street, El Paso, Texas. Following the Mass, a vehicle procession will depart from the church and proceed to Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 8700 Dyer Street, El Paso, Texas, where interment will take place at 12:00 p.m.
