On Thursday, August 4th, 2016, the light of our family, Lucy Alvarez Ramirez, surrounded by her children and her granddaughter, Luci D. Sanchez, entered heaven and was reunited with the love of her life, husband, Meliton V. Ramirez Jr, her beloved grandson, Arthur, and son in law William Francis Pfeifer. A lifelong Catholic, Lucy held special ardor for Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception.
Born in Marfa, Texas, she was one of nine children born to Victor and Catarina Alvarez. Lucy is survived by her daughters, Jessica "Choclos" Lujan (as she was lovingly referred to) and her husband, Leandro, Dora "La Pajara" Pfeifer, and her son, Frank "El Rey" Ramirez and his wife, Martha. She leaves behind her legacy in her eight grandchildren, led by her eldest grandson, Meliton Frederick "Ponce" Contreras, and her 11 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Miguel Alvarez.
Our beautiful "Silver Fox" leaves a void in our hearts as we celebrate her life. Her greatest joy was her family and we will miss sharing in her passion for cooking, music, singing, dancing, gardening and antique shopping. Lucy was a woman of great strength, character and integrity. She was the guiding light for her family and instilled her faith and values with the utmost love and care.
Services will be as follows: The Rosary will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 10th at 7pm at Martin Funeral Home Chapel, 1460 George Dieter. Mass will be held on Thursday, Aug. 11th at 9am at San Antonio de Padua Church, 503 Hunter Drive, El Paso. Lucy will be laid to rest with her husband at Fort Bliss National Cemetery at 10:30am.
