Luis obtained his degree in Metallurgical Engineering from UTEP and worked in the field of his choice. He worked with various employers in different states.
One of his qualities was that he made good friends that lasted a lifetime. Examples of these friends are Humberto and Saul who he had known since elementary school. They would get together on a regular basis. In fact, he was a friend of the entire family. Another friend was Manny, who he met at the Texas Department of Health. They would take part in hiking and biking locally. Manny would identify flora they encountered as they hiked. Two other good friends were his compadres, Chuy and Deida. They would get together every two weeks for lunch or dinner.
Luis lived a long time in Colorado and other states. Chuy, Humberto, Tina, and David lived for years outside El Paso. Yet in the end they all returned to El Paso and restarted their friendship with each other and with those that remained in El Paso.
Luis was athletic. He was part of the cross-country team that went to the state finals, and which took first place. Part of his athleticism was demonstrated in his participation in hiking, biking, skiing, and other activities.
He lived the longest in Colorado where he met and married Joanne. With Joanne he also hiked, and mountain climbed. They visited Europe and it is only recently that I learned they took part in mountain climbing in Austria.
Luis was a good brother, a good son, and a good human being. I appreciate the interest that he had in the wellbeing of my daughter and son. He also demonstrated that same interest in his other nieces and nephews.
In summary, Luis made a positive impact on others and others made a positive impact on him. Others like our mother, grandmother, Ernie (my other brother), his wife Bernice, his friends, compadres, and other relatives. Irene (my wife), Lyssa, and Mark are grateful for all his
